Mr. Peterman’s practice includes analyzing offensive and defensive patent positions, investigating infringement threats, preparing opinions of counsel, analyzing IP ownership issues and related allegations, preparing pre-litigation assessments, and providing litigation support concerning patent issues. In addition, Mr. Peterman’s practice includes licensing of intellectual property, analyzing intellectual property provisions in joint development and other business agreements, and developing patent procurement and portfolio management strategies to help companies protect their core technologies and enhance their overall intellectual property positions.

Professional Background

Mr. Peterman has worked in the intellectual property field for over twenty years. His current practice is directed primarily to patent related analyses, patent procurement and related counseling issues, although he also has experience in trademark and copyright related issues.

Before helping to establish the firm, Mr. Peterman worked as an associate for Arnold, White & Durkee (1993-1997), which has since joined with Howrey & Simon. While there, Mr. Peterman actively participated in a variety of patent litigation matters. Through this litigation experience, from the inception of a case through discovery and trial, Mr. Peterman has gained an in depth understanding of the enforcement landscape through which companies and individuals must navigate if they are to maintain, assert and defend their intellectual property assets.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Peterman worked as a co-operative engineer in software development and test at IBM in Austin, Texas, while studying for his degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in semiconductor technology.
